Thornton Eggceptional In CSP Eggstravaganza
Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (April 23rd, 2011) – Ricky Thornton Jr. celebrated Easter weekend with not only his second consecutive IMCA Modified feature win but backed that up by topping the 25-lap Total Seal Late Model Series feature at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park.
Thornton took advantage of the top groove of a very well prepared race track to overcome Anthony Madrid who led most of the race using the bottom groove. Madrid took the point from the pole position while Thornton made his way through traffic as he worked his way up from the eighth starting position. Thornton moved to the top and crossed the line first with Madrid settling for second.
Lonnie Parker Jr. filled the final podium spot and maintained his points lead for the 2011 Total Seal Championship.
Thornton also picked up his second consecutive IMCA Modified win as he was able to hold off a hard charging Jason Noll. Noll, who drove from the 15th spot, was able to keep his grasp on the championship battle crossing the line second just ahead of Guy Norton.
Jeff Stafford picked up the win in the 20-lap Pure Stock feature while Joe Vlasity was victorious in Bomber Mania.
