Ward Wins at Canyon Speedway!
Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (April 2nd, 2011) – Tim Ward picked off his first IMCA Modified win of the 2011 championship season by topping Saturday night’s 25-lap main event at Canyon Speedway and earning a $777 payday.
The former series champ made quick work getting to the front from his third-place starting position as he held off Marlyn Seidler to capture the win aboard the Frank Lafrance-powered TRE – No. 4TW entry.
Ward was chased to the line by Seidler, with Jay Foster, settling for the show position. Guy Norton took the fourth-place finish with Ricky Thornton Jr. racing from ninth to round out the top five.
Steve Bitting took home $500 for his win in the 20-lap Pure Stock main event. Scott Kleintop and Todd Palmo rounded out the top three as the Canyon Speedway fans got loud for the $100 bonus to the wildest Pure Stock fans with Allscapes throwing in another $100 to settle the tie.
George Fronsman drove from the rear of the field and beat Mike Brigner and Chris McCurdy Sr. in the 20-lap Super Stock feature event. With the win, Fronsman was able to slightly increase his championship points lead over Brigner.
Anthony Madrid took his team driver for a ride and win claiming the $200 Bomber Mania win while Steve Kapaun captured the Dwarf Car win.

Canyon Speedway Park, Arizona’s Speedway for 30 years, will host the high powered Sunoco Fuels American Sprint Car Series this Saturday night for the Copper State 25. The X-Mods, Southwest Modlites and ASCS2 Micro Sprints will join the field. The thrills begin when general admission tickets go on sale at 5pm for only $15 for adults, Senior and Military $13 and children 12 under are always free. Racing will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the Copper State 25 racers at an open practice slated for April 6th. The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview.
