IMCA Modified Battle Gets Hot This Weekend

Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (May 13th, 2011) – With seven races in the books for the IMCA Modified Championship, five different drivers have found victory lane.  This weekend the battle will heat up as a host of drivers look to add their name to an already stout list of 2011 winners at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway.

There seems to be a certain déjà vu surrounding Modified racing, one that isn’t as simple as the same drivers winning each week, but one of historical content.  Most race fans grew up in Arizona watching the likes of Belcher, Thornton, Madrid, Ward and several others battle on the track for Arizona racing supremacy.  Now with five different winners that include Jason Noll, Marlyn Seidler, Tim Ward, Ricky Thornton Jr. and now Terry Belcher Jr., it seems that history has gone full circle and races fans are able to relive the good times watching a younger generation of Modified stars race door to door this Saturday night.

Will it be a young Tim Ward that is able to triumph for the second time this season or can Belcher Jr. make it back to back wins matching Thornton’s double just weeks ago or could it possibly be one of the elders making it to victory lane?

Guy Norton, Jay Foster, George Fronsman, Anthony Madrid along with a large cast of several other Modified hopefuls will be ready for the challenge as they look to capture their first victory of the season and join the list of Canyon Speedway winners.
Joining the Modifieds for a full night of action will be the Super Stocks, Southwest Modlites, Bombers and Dwarf Cars.  General admission tickets will go on sale at 5pm for only $15, racing will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
