Madrid Magnificent at Canyon Speedway

Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (May 29, 2011) – Anthony Madrid continued his dominance in Total Seal Late Model action at Peoria, Arizona’s Canyon Speedway as he conquered his fourth win in six starts by winning tonight’s 25-lap feature on a very fast 3/8 mile clay oval.

While Madrid continues to keep a strong hold on a very tough Late Model field, his win tonight did not come easy as he climbed from his Jeff Manka owned Sunoco Fuels Rocket exhausted but joyful after prevailing in a very heated battle with runner up Terry Belcher Jr.

Belcher, who was able to hold off Madrid and Ricky Thornton Jr. for three quarters of the race, slipped up just enough to allow Madrid to take the lead.  Belcher battled back as the three drivers raced side by side with Thornton dropping out with mechanical issues leaving room for “The Prince” Paul Banghart to move into third.

Belcher and Banghart, driving team cars, raced side by side with Madrid for the closing laps crossing the checker flag inches apart giving Madrid the win and the Mike Tahtinen team two podium finishes.

Bud Grossenbacher had a strong finish in the fourth position with John Cornell rounding out the top five.

Andy Eatwell returned to his norm as he picked up the Southwest Modlite main event win while Dustin Cormany captured his third ASCS2 victory at Canyon Speedway.

The Desert Dwarf cars made a strong return to CSP with a large field of cars as Mike Williams captured his second win of the year.
