Davis Digs First ASCS Canyon Win of the Year at CSP!

Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (September 24, 2011) – Two-time and defending Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region champion Charles Davis, Jr., snared his first series feature win of the season in Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Canyon Speedway Park.

Davis, Jr., started front row outside and went on to his 21st career ASCS Canyon Region feature win in front of Josh Pelkey, with Casey Shuman, Stevie Sussex and R.J. Johnson rounding out the top five.

Current ASCS Canyon points leader Jeremy Sherman raced from 16th to sixth, Mike Martin, Bruct St. James, 18th-starter Ronnie Clark and Bryan Swinehart completing the top ten.

Johnson, Sussex and Andrew Reinbold topped heat race action for the 28-car field, with Justin Quinn winning the “B” Main.

Jeff Stafford returned to victory lane as he raced from the 13th spot to take the point and was able to hold off 12th place starter Ty Warner. 

Stafford, who garnered his seventh win of the year, also increased his championship point lead putting him 45 points ahead of Warner going into the final points weekend of the year at the November Desert Classic.

Don Zoll captured the 20-lap X-Mod feature while runner up Jason George acquired the 2011 X-Mod Championship.

Dustin Cormany notched another mark in the win column as he took honors in ASCS2 action.

The high powered Total Seal Super Late Models return along with $1000 to win open Modifieds this Saturday night.  The Super Stocks, Bombers and Dwarf cars will join the card making for an action packed night of racing that starts when general admission tickets go on sale at 5pm for only $15 for adults, Senior and Military $13 and CHILDREN 12 and UNDER are free. Racing will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
