IMCA Championship Battle to Be Settled This Saturday
Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (September 12th, 2011) – A battle that began what seems to be forever ago will come down to the final points race of the year and more likely will come down to the final lap as Guy Norton leads the charge in a quest for his first IMCA Modified Championship. The stage is set and the battle will wage this Saturday night at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway.
Norton carries a small three point advantage over “Racin” Jason Noll going into the final point’s race of the IMCA Modified season as the two drivers will face off with Norton in the drivers seats and Noll needing a three position advantage at the end of Saturday’s 25-lap feature event.
Jay Foster, who is on a hot streak winning three of the last four events, will need at least a six car advantage in order to steel the title from Norton and definitely has a shot going into the final round. Foster is the only driver with a chance at the 2011 crown that has a victory in the last six months. In fact, Norton remains winless on the year while Noll recorded his last feat March 19, 2011.
The year long quest for the 2011 IMCA Modified Champion will come down to three drivers, six points and will likely be settled when the checker flag falls this Championship Saturday.
The Challenge Cup Sprint Cars will join the Arizona Super Stock Touring Series with Pure Stocks, Southwest Modlites and Bomber Mania completing a full night of action. The final quest begins when general admission tickets go on sale this Saturday at 5pm for only $15, racing will begin promptly at 7:30pm. Kid’s 12 and under are FREE!
