Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (October 1st, 2011) – Ricky Thornton Jr. continued his strong hold on the Total Seal Late Model Series while Robert King Jr. climbed behind the wheel for the first time in 2011 and both went to victory lane with Thornton topping the 25-lap Late Model feature and King crowned the $1000 winner in the Open Modified 25-lap feature.

Thornton, powered by the Moriarty owned Total Seal Late Model, took the point mid-race and captured his third Late Model victory at Canyon Speedway in as many tries with early race leader Bud Grossenbacher finishing runner up and posting his career best finish.

Point leader, Antony Madrid, filled the podium with Terry Belcher Jr. and Joey Moriarty rounding out the top five.

Robert King filled the seat for Mark Stewart for his first start of 2011 and held off Anthony Madrid for the Open Modified win.  King was granted a third place starting spot in the revenge draw while Madrid had to work from the 12th spot but quickly made his way to the front.

Madrid challenged King on several occasions but was unable to distress the Modified veteran as he went on to pickup the $1000 payday ahead of Madrid and Ryan Roath who drove from 13th to third.

Joe Vlasity beat Justin Bishop and wrapped up the Bomber Mania 2011 Championship picking up 11 out of 20 main events during his quest of the Bomber Mania title.  Vlasity will be among several champions to be honored on December 4th at the Annual Awards banquet being held at the Avondale restaurant, Cowgirls.
