Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (December 14th, 2011) – With the 2012 racing season just around the corner and Canyon Speedway quickly becoming one of the nations premier short tracks, an exciting 2012 race schedule has been released.

While more than 30 events grace the 2012 schedule one would think it may be hard to top the 2011 season!  With great optimism CSP has created a 2012 schedule that may do just that!  With the cooperation of neighboring tracks, the level of competition will be at an all time high making for extreme excitement race fans will not want to miss.

The 2012 Winter Challenge will kick off the year featuring top traditional Sprint Car drivers from around the country as the American Sprint Car Series faces off with the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series while IMCA Modified aces converge in the valley of the sun for what is anticipated to be one of the largest racing events of 2012.  Arizona race fans can mark their calendar for one of the hottest events of the year as the best of the best in Wingless Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds tackle Canyon Speedway’s 3/8-mile clay oval for six races over the course of nine days on January 27th, 28th, 29th February 1st, 3rd and 4th.  The ever popular Pure Stocks and ASCS2 Micros will join the field for five of the six winter events making the Winter Challenge a must see for 2012.

The 1st Annual Copper Classic is next on the agenda and will ignite the 2012 Championship Season for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour and the IMCA Modifieds.  The March two day event will feature top Wing Sprint Car drivers from across the country and will mark the first time a National Wing Sprint Car Tour has circled the Peoria, Arizona oval since the early 90’s.

After a short break in action, the ASCS Non Wing Sprint Cars will put the thrilling championship season into full swing on March 17th as Jeremy Sherman seeks his 6th ASCS Sprint Car title.  The “CSP Season Opener” will also kick off the point chase for Pure Stocks, X-Mods, Southwest Modlites and the ASCS2 Micro Sprints.  The CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars and Bomber Mania will follow up with their opener on April 7th joining the IMCA Modifieds and Pure Stocks.

While Arizona State IMCA Modified Champion hopefuls will have the opportunity to kick off the points season during the Winter Challenge, it will be Guy Norton set to defend the CSP Crown at the Copper Classic in March.

Jeff Stafford will wage his battle to secure another CSP Pure Stock Championship with a little twist!  Not only will Pure Stock participants seek the prosperity of the covenant CSP Pure Stock title, they will also have an opportunity at their own “State Championship”.  An Arizona State Pure Stock Champion will be crowned and an additional point fund will be paid to the top five highest point earners that participate in the Arizona Pure Stock State Championship which will consist of more than 30 non-conflicting events starting with Arizona Speedway’s Frank Soboski Memorial and will conclude with the $1000 to win Stock Car Shootout at Canyon Speedway.

Race fans will not want to miss any of the action! Season passes and Winter Challenge six day discounted tickets are now available just in time for Christmas.
