Norton Starts His Championship Defense at The Copper Classic

Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (February 15th, 2012) – Guy Norton earned his first IMCA Modified Championship when he narrowly beat “Racin” Jason Noll by one point in the Canyon Speedway Park season finale last September and earned the covenant title of IMCA Modified Champion.  Norton, with a revamped and revived ride, will mount up for the Copper Classic and his 2012 title defense with a clear goal to win races and repeat as champion.

With the season just a few weeks away and the IMCA Modified contingent aiming for the Norton’s title, Canyon Speedway Park will up the ante with the 2012 CSP IMCA Champion collecting $1500 for their efforts with additional IMCA State and Regional Championship funds at stake.

Norton will kick off his season with a special appearance at the Copper Classic Pre-Race Party set for Wednesday February 29th at Cowgirls Bar and Grill in Avondale.  The champion will have his 2012 ride on display from 5pm until 8pm while event goers enjoy drink specials and an opportunity to mix and mingle with the Copper Classic drivers.  

Race fans can mark their calendar for the start of the 2012 IMCA Modified Championship Season and the return of National Wing Sprint Cars as The Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Car Series comes to Arizona for undoubtedly the best show on dirt and race fans can catch all the action for less than $18 per day.  Two day advanced tickets are now on sale and race enthusiasts can take advantage of discounted ticket prices for the much anticipated return of National Wing Sprint Cars to Canyon Speedway.

With more than 40 of the nations top Wing Sprint Car drivers expected to take part in the season opener and top IMCA Modified drivers kicking off the 2012 Championship effort, The Copper Classic will be a must see event.
