Midget Sensation Rico Abreu Primed For The Western Classic!

Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (September 27th, 2012) – Hall of Fame Mechanic/Car Owner Keith Kunz ventured into Arizona nearly two years ago with a young driver and swept the 2011 Copper on Dirt and now after a short absence of Midget racing in Arizona, Kunz will again head west with anticipation of dominating the Western Classic at Peoria, Arizona’s Canyon Speedway Park.

The same famous race car and the same legendary mechanic will again wander west but this time it will be with a young Rico Abreu at the wheel of the Bullet Chassis/TRD/Abreu Vineyards Kunz machine.  However, don’t expect a different outcome from the KKR team as Rico has been on a terror as of late, recently winning the USAC Midget event at Calistoga.

Rico will be a part of a three car team that will include USAC National Driver of The Year Bryan Clauson and likely third car with a driver to be announced.

The USAC National Midget races will be the first at Canyon Speedway Park marking the return of the National Midget Series on dirt in the West.

The Inaugural Western Classic will take place the second weekend of November and will showcase the fast action of USAC National Midgets and West Coast Late Models.  The best of the Best will tackle Canyon Speedway’s 1/3-mile clay oval over the course of the two day event on November 9th and 10th.
