Scott Drake Gears Up For $5000 to Win IMCA Desert Classic
Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (September 24th, 2012) – Scott Drake kicked off the year by becoming the fifth different winner at the January Winter Challenge which showcased drivers from more than 10 states across America and averaged nearly 40 IMCA Modified stars.
With an early entry into the 24th Annual Desert Classic the Webb City, Missouri driver aims to be the final winner of 2012 as he throws his hat in the ring for the $5000 IMCA Modified payday this coming November at Canyon Speedway Park.
The Desert Classic, which takes place the first weekend of November, enters its 24th year and is a showcase for top IMCA Modified drivers across the country. The best of the Best will tackle Canyon Speedway’s 1/3-mile clay oval over the course of the two day event on November 2nd and 3rd.
Friday night of the Desert Classic will feature a full night of racing action with the winner securing a top spot in Saturday’s finale. The top six finishers from Friday will be locked in for Saturday’s feature while the remaining competitors will return for a final chance to make the $5000 to win main event.
Arizona’s Tim Ward became the 23rd winner of the Desert Classic as he etched his name into the history books by winning the 2011 edition of the classic. Ward is anticipated to return and defend his title against the nation’s best IMCA Modified stand outs.
