Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (November 4, 2012) – Matt Martinez collected the $1,000 Pure Stock payday to top off Sunday afternoon’s Stock Car Shootout atop the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway clay oval.

While Martinez topped the Pure Stocks, Chris McCurdy, Jr., picked off the $500 Pure Stock win, Clay Colclasure earned the $500 Super Stock triumph and Tony Martin bested the Southwest Modlites.

Martinez raced from the third row outside to top the Pure Stock feature in front of pole starter Ty Warner, with John Thomas, Tyler Mecl and Chris McCurdy, Jr., rounding out the top five.

Top-ranked in CSP Pure Stock points, McCurdy, Jr., successfully took on the Bombers by racing from seventh to take the checkered flag ahead of 12th-starter John Romero, 15th-starter Daniel Romero, Nick Langer and Richard Bennett.

Colclasure put a stop to Joe Saringer’s bid to go three-for-three on the weekend in Super Stocks by beating George Fronsman, Mike Brigner and Saringer to the stripe.

Tony Martin became the third different Southwest Modlite winner of the weekend, taking the win from seventh ahead of 10th-starter A.J. Martin, 12th-starter Davey Bateman, Terry Cornwell and P.J. Jinzo.

Racing action continues at Canyon Speedway Park with The Western Classic on Friday and Saturday (November 9-10) featuring the USAC National Midget series along with the West Coast Late Models.
