CSP Ready for IMCA Desert Classic!

Desert Classic 650x150Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (October 29, 2013) – Some big money is on the line in the IMCA Modified ranks as Canyon Speedway Park hosts the 25th Annual IMCA Desert Classic this weekend.

Following an open practice session on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., two full nights of racing action ensue on Friday and Saturday with Saturday’s IMCA Modified Desert Classic 40-lap feature winner collecting a $5,000 winner’s share.

In addition to IMCA Modifieds, both nights of racing action will also include Viper Smart Start Pure Stocks, Modlite Nationals and Renegades with action going green at 7:00 p.m. each day.

A regularly featured class at CSP, the 2013 IMCA Modified track championship was claimed by Jason Noll.  Noll, who topped last year’s Desert Classic preliminary feature, won five features en route to this year’s championship as eight different drivers claimed feature wins.

Noll took the championship by just six points over Anthony Madrid, while third-ranked Ricky Thornton, Jr., is the defending Desert Classic champion.  Thornton, Jr., won a pair of IMCA Modified features at CSP this year.

Second in IMCA Modified points, Anthony Madrid also picked off four Viper Smart Start Pure Stock feature wins while Chris McCurdy, Jr., edged Matt Martinez by 23 points for the title.  Martinez topped three of the final four feature events of the year.

Tickets for the 25th Annual IMCA Desert Classic are $18 for both Friday and Saturday night.  Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free.
