Stock Car Action 2014Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (May 16, 2014) – The initial leg of the 2014 season has been a display of the diverse talent and competitiveness of Canyon Speedway Pure Stocks and proof that the best stock car drivers in the state line up each week looking for their opportunity to visit victory lane. With four different winners in as many events, a laundry list of others that have not graced the winners circle along with a core group of Rookies that are knocking on the door, it is anyone’s guess as to who will be next on the list of winners.

As we approach fall that list of talented drivers will surely grow as Labor Day weekend will mark the first time in Canyon Speedway history that the famed Stock Car Shootout will double in size. The long standing Stock Car event will double the laps and double the money now offering up an unprecedented $2,000 to the 100-lap winner making the Shootout the highest paying Stock Car event in its history.

Matt Martinez, who has one win to his credit in 2014, has dominated the previous Stock Car Shootouts with amazing 50-lap battles with racing legend Anthony Madrid. While the 2013 edition succumbed to rain, Martinez was able to hold of Madrid in 2012 and 2011 picking up the $1,000 check.

2-time Series Champion Chris McCurdy Jr., who holds a 5-point advantage over Joe Vlasity, will lead the unmatched field of drivers into battle on August 30th and 31st with time trial qualifying and twin 15 qualifying races on Saturday to set the field for 100-laps on Sunday.
