The Rips Napa Stock Car Shootout 100 Presented By Scottsdale Muffler
Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (August 22, 2014) – 2-Time defending Stock Car Shootout winner, Matt Martinez, busily prepares his Rods Carburetor’s 21m for the largest Stock Car event in the history of Canyon Speedway. Martinez is no doubt the favorite going into the event, winning 4 of the regular season events and a 3 win streak that was recently halted by Ty Weidner, the only other repeat winner in 2014.
Both drivers prepare to fend off a host of regular contenders while the likes of Ricky Thornton Jr. and Anthony Madrid will also throw their hat in the ring for the $2,000 100-Lap special event. Thornton who holds a perfect record in IMCA Modified action at CSP will pull double duty in Anthony Madrid owned 5m’s while his car owner will climb aboard Rips Napa Stock Car ride for his shot at $2,000.
Stock Car drivers from across the state will compete in the special two day event with the finale of the $2,000 to win 100-Lap race coming Sunday night August 31st. Saturday’s Single car Qualifying and twin 15-lap Shootouts will set the stage for 28 cars to compete for $2,000 to win and $200 to start in Sundays 100-Lap Feature.
Bud Light Pole Qualifying
Saturday night will host Bud Light Pole Qualifying with each driver testing their skills against the clock for 2-Laps to determine the starting lineup for Saturday’s Phoenix Automotive Core Twin 15 Shootouts. The fastest 12 cars will be inverted in the PAC Shootouts with the balance of the field lined up by time.
Phoenix Automotive Core Hoosier Tire Shootouts
The twin 15-Lap Shootouts will set the field for Sundays outing with the top 4 drivers from each PAC Shootout making up the first 4 rows of the 100-Lap event while 5th thru 10th finishers will earn their starting spot by qualifying time, seeding twenty of twenty eight cars in the field. A last chance qualifier will be held on Sunday to set the remaining 4 cars while 2 Provisionals will be available for Canyon Speedway point participants and 2 buy in positions making for twenty eight cars taking the green.
Sunday’s finale will feature the best of the best in Stock Cars from around the southwest all competing for $2,000 and the covenant Beaver Stripes Trophy. There will be a mandatory fuel only stop close to half way point while other pit stops for repairs and tire changes will only be allowed during competitive laps leading up the Sunoco Fuels Chase at lap 85 where yellow flag laps will no longer count and lapped cars will be placed at the rear of the field.
